Biography

Jan Fadri Hofstetter found his way to music at the age of ten as a member of the Solothurner Singknaben. As a boy soloist on concert tours throughout Europe, he discovered his passion for Early Music, including through performances at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome and St Paul’s Cathedral in London. Additionally, he took singing lessons with Jan Börner, where he explored vocal technique and the solo repertoire. In summer 2026, he completed his bachelor's degree with Prof. Ulrike Hofbauer at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in performance with Xenia Meijer at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. He has participated in masterclasses with, among others, Sabine Schütz, Emma Kirkby and Margreet Honig. His interests range from Renaissance to song repertoire, with a particular dedication to the style of recitar cantando and the works of the High Baroque.

As a soloist, Jan Hofstetter has performed, among others, with lautten compagney BERLIN, Abendmusiken Basel, in the philharmonic hall together with Berlin Baroque and the Berliner Figuralchor, El Gran Teatro del Mundo, Teatro dei Cervelli, ReRenaissance Basel and WeserRenaissance.
